Thanks to Air Canada’s eUpgrade system, booking my Air Canada A330 Business Class flight was seamless. As an Aeroplan Elite member, I had the privilege of using eUpgrades to elevate my travel experience. After searching to ensure eUpgrade availability for the flight, I booked an economy latitude fare ticket for 20,600 points and immediately applied the eUpgrade credits, securing my business class seat.

Toronto Ground Experience

My trip back to Vancouver began in Ottawa after a restful stay at Le Germain Hotel. I arrived early at the airport to visit the Aspire Lounge. However, a hiccup with my Priority Pass redirected me to the Ottawa Maple Leaf Lounge instead. Despite the change, I made the most of my brief stay before heading to Toronto.

After landing at YYZ, I treated myself to a macchiato at the Air Canada Café. Known for its impeccable service and delicious offerings, it’s a favorite spot of mine. Amidst the airport’s hustle and bustle, I enjoyed a moment of tranquility before heading to the departure gate.

Despite a minor delay in boarding, I eagerly anticipated exploring the Air Canada A330 business class cabin.

The Air Canada A330 Business Class cabin boasts a 1-2-1 configuration, providing ample privacy and comfort for passengers. With all window seats facing outward and seats in the center facing inward, solo travelers and those journeying with companions can both find suitable seating options. Additionally, a divider can be raised or lowered between the interior seats for added privacy or interaction as desired.

From my personal experience documented in my Air Canada A330-300 business class review, I was seated in 5K.

Seat Condition and Layout

Upon entering the cabin, I had mixed feelings about the seating area. Although the familiar Air Canada color scheme of greys and warm woods added sophistication, the overall appearance seemed somewhat dated and worn. Scuff marks on the pod walls and debris in the aisle detracted from the initial allure.

Additionally, the overhead bins appeared smaller than those on other Air Canada wide-body aircraft models, presenting a challenge for carry-on storage. My trusty Osprey Porter was a snug fit.

Seat Features and Amenities

Despite initial cosmetic concerns, the seat itself provided ample space and comfort. Featuring a deep footwell, it allowed for full leg extension without encroaching on personal space. The seat compartments housed a small remote control for entertainment, power outlets, and USB ports (including USB-C), offering modern amenities that contrasted with the apparent age of the seat design.

The lack of storage in the overhead bins continued in the seat. The storage cubby is significantly smaller than what you will find on the 777 and 787 Air Canada business class seats.

Additional Highlights

In addition to the aforementioned amenities, the Air Canada A330 Business Class seat boasted a sliding table tray, a reading light, and a basic coat hook for added convenience. However, unlike other aircraft models, padded seat belts were notably absent. Furthermore, a small screen similar to those found in other aircraft models controlled seat functions, lighting, and attendant call signals. Although the seat included a massage function, its effectiveness was minimal, serving more as a novelty than a practical amenity.

Service on Air Canada’s A330 Business Class began with online menu orders, a convenient feature I eagerly utilized. With preflight meal selections, passengers can peruse the menu and choose in advance, streamlining the dining experience.

While boarding can be lengthy, I’ve never encountered a pre-departure drink service on any Air Canada Business Class flight. If you’ve experienced this service, share your thoughts below.

Shortly after takeoff, a member of the cabin crew made her rounds to introduce herself, setting a welcoming tone for the journey ahead. This gesture was swiftly followed by the distribution of hot towels and the commencement of the meal service, signaling the beginning of an elevated inflight dining experience.

Last, the lavatories on this Air Canada A330-300 business class flight were tidy. The space is more cramped than what you will find on the 777 or 787.

Entertainment Experience

Drawing from my previous Air Canada 737-Max Business Class review, I’m consistently impressed by Air Canada’s in-flight entertainment system. The Air Canada A330 Business Class experience upheld this standard, offering a diverse selection of movies and TV shows accessible through a responsive and intuitive system.

Variety of Content

During my Air Canada A330 Business Class journey, I explored a range of entertainment options, including shows from Apple TV and Disney Plus. Additionally, I took advantage of the live TV feature to catch the exhilarating conclusion of a hockey game, adding a touch of real-time excitement to the inflight experience.

On my flight east, I was able to watch a full hockey game from start to finish. With one period enjoyed in the sky between Vancouver and Toronto, another in the lounge during my layover, and the final period streamed seamlessly on a connecting flight and then on my phone upon landing in Ottawa. I hope this convenience and connectivity amazes you as much as it does me.

Audio Experience

While the provided headphones offered decent sound quality, there’s room for improvement in terms of noise cancellation. Nevertheless, they surpassed the quality of the standard headphones often distributed on other aircraft models, enhancing the overall entertainment experience.

Still, I recommend carrying Bose QuietComfort headphones or AirPod Pros along with this Bluetooth dongle, which allows you to seamlessly connect to the system.

Connectivity Features

A notable perk for Aeroplan members was the option for free texting, adding value to the inflight experience and ensuring passengers stay connected with loved ones or colleagues throughout their journey.

Dining Experience

For my meal, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and opted for the salmon, which deviated from my usual practice of avoiding fish while flying. Surprisingly, I found the dish enjoyable and even made a mental note to consider ordering it again, breaking my unwritten rule.

Beverage Pairing

To complement my meal, I selected a delightful sauvignon blanc, which proved to be a perfect dinner accompaniment. Following the meal, I indulged in a Caesar cocktail, followed by a satisfying port to round off the dining experience on a high note.

Dessert Dilemma

As the dessert cart circulated, I faced an unexpected limitation when selecting. Despite the tempting array of options—cheese plate, fresh fruit, and a brownie—I was informed I could only choose one when I asked for the fruit and brownie. This departure from previous experiences added a twist to the dining experience. Nonetheless, I embraced the opportunity to indulge in a decadent dessert (move over fruit), marking the conclusion of a memorable dining experience at 35,000 feet.

Final Thoughts on This Air Canada A330-300 Business Class Review

My Air Canada A330-300 Business Class review offers a generally positive assessment. However, I’m inclined to explore other options in the future. While service and amenities were commendable, I missed the extra space of Air Canada’s 787 and 777 business class seats. Additionally, the seat condition was disappointing, highlighting the need for maintenance. The cabin crew showed professionalism, but there were instances of lacking attentiveness, like the uncollected garbage. These oversights detracted from the overall experience, leaving room for improvement.
