Instagramming Ireland – Green Hills, Giant Footsteps, and oh so Much Guinness

Each month on this website I feature a favourite country, city, or region of mine. Alongside this destination of the month comes posts, highlights, and now a quick collection of my Instagram photos from the area. Next up in this social photo sharing series is Instagramming Ireland, a country that I was lucky enough to road trip around not once but twice, leaving me with plenty of amazing photos to share.

My first tour through Ireland took me from Dublin to Derry and Cork to Kerry. On my 8-day road trip around Ireland, I covered a lot. I stopped at a tomb older than the pyramids of Giza in Newgrange, checked out where the Titanic left on its doomed voyage, walked in the footsteps of giants, strolled along the Cliffs of Moher, and made my way around the Ring of Kerry…sort of. All the while sampling Guinness at every stop along the way, including straight from the source.

Yes, it was a busy trip around Ireland where I crammed a lot in…yet it left me wanting more. As noted in previous posts, I hate to backtrack. I would much rather visit somewhere new than exploring a country I have visited further. Ireland, however, I would make an exception. With the help of a ridiculously low airfare ($330 return YVR-DUB…although I missed the flight! More on that later), I did just that. Thanks to a heads-up error fare from YVRDeals, I pounced. I made my return this past month and only added to my love of this great country. Along with that second visit came a great road trip with Auto Europe and plenty more Instagramming Ireland shots.

With that in mind here is a recap of my favourite Instagramming Ireland photos. Scroll on. It’s good craic!

The first time I went to Ireland I asked someone there to set me straight on “The Troubles” between British Loyalists/Protestant’s and the IRA/Catholics. The conversation left me even more confused so on my return to Belfast I decided to take a tour on the subject but once again, I was left scratching my head, especially at the “Peace Walls” still standing and still separating certain neighbours. How is this still a thing? Large walls and gates that lock at night to keep the peace...in 2017. Mind blown. ...

Great shots. Can’t wait to take a trip there myself. Is Guinness the unofficial national beer there?
