Before my visit to Ireland, I had visions of rolling green hills, cozy pubs, and friendly locals. Although these visions came to fruition everywhere I went in Ireland, little did I know that my walk along the Cliffs of Moher provided all of these experiences in the most scenic way possible. Here’s why:
Into the Fog
Visiting the Cliffs of Moher was something I was really looking forward to on my European Road Trip with Auto Europe Car Rentals. This excitement turned sour as our day started out with the thickest fog I’ve ever seen. Leaving Galway I was convinced this photo walk along the Cliffs of Moher was going to be a bust. With all hopes for a scenic walk lost and just as we got within 2 km from our destination, we punched through the dense wall and into the most stunning day possible.
Up Close – A walk along the Cliffs of Moher
Those looking for a close walk along the Cliffs of Moher won’t be disappointed. Although there is a well-maintained path, visitors can hop over the railing (at their own risk) and experience a thrilling stroll. For even better views head along the Coastal Walk or pay the €2 for visit to the top of O’Brien’s Tower – although I found the latter limiting.
Playful Locals
Along with the clear skies comes hordes of flies. This, although annoying as seen in some of my photos, couldn’t damper this experience. Besides, the local cows didn’t seem to mind.
Top it Off
I followed my walk along the Cliffs of Moher in true Irish fashion – with the pint of Guinness in a pub. Nearby Egans Pub came highly recommended from an Irish friend and did not disappoint as the perfect place to cap off a walk along the Cliffs of Moher.
