Each month on this website I feature a favourite country, city, or region of mine. Alongside this destination of the month comes posts, highlights, and now a quick collection of my Instagram photos from the area. Next up in this social photo sharing series is Instagramming New Zealand, a country that is plenty photogenic and so very cool.
My time touring through New Zealand left me with some amazing pictures and stories. No nation was more road-trip friendly and picture perfect than New Zealand. It could have been the unseasonably warm (and clear) whether I had while cruising Milford Sound, or the fact that I flew in a freaking open cockpit over majestic Lake Wanaka! Either way, Instagramming New Zealand did not disappoint. From the Hobits of Wellywood to the south island’s breathtaking fjords, New Zealand does not hold back when it comes to Instagram friendly shots. With that in mind here is a recap of my favourite Instagramming New Zealand photos. Hopefully, it helps add this great country to your travel bucket list!
Instagramming New Zealand
Good morning Queenstown!
Wellington is home to countless art pieces including this one depicting the north and south islands. I find it cool that people walk through the "Cook Straight" daily without realizing what the piece represents. In short, you are welcome #NewZealand.
So long New Zealand! I am already planning a return visit, you are that great. Stay cool.
Taking advantage of the weather and enjoying the views - North Head, Devonport.
Here's to friends of friends becoming friends. Big thanks to Matt for sharing a little of Auckland with us!
Not a bad place for a swing - Waiheke Island, NZ
Day 93 of #ThisLifeinDrinks - Cheers from Waiheke Island, where wine is always in season.
Of all the things to love about my recent stay at the Museum Art Hotel in #Wellington, strumming a ukulele that Billy Connolly played while in town filming the Hobbit was pretty damn cool.
Another shot of my sweet ride today. Great way to see the time capsule that is Napier!
Cruising around #Napier in a 1938 Packard to check out everything #ArtDeco.
Day 92 of #ThisLifeinDrinks - Red wine, local lamb, and Lord of the Rings. Pretty much as New Zealand as it gets.
On top of being a laid back foodie haven with accessible outdoor fun, @wellington_newzealand is also home of the Hobbit. Today I got a peak behind the scenes @wetaworkshop, the design studio responsible for the monsters, costumes, and special effects. So very cool.
The historic Valve Tower at #Zealandia.
This massive reservoir turned nature park is home to many of New Zealand's plants and animals including black ferns and kiwi birds. It's a fantastic place to go for a walk in the woods and see some of the country's wildlife up close. The best part - it's minutes from downtown @wellington_newzealand.
Have I mentioned #Wellington is really great?
After a day touring @wellington_newzealand's vibrant arts and culture scene I'm off to see its wild side. 1st the iconic cable car to the top of it all then off to @visit_zealandia. #wetawatch
I grew up in northern Canada where early aboriginal carvings are eerily similar to those found on the opposite end of the globe. Thanks for blowing my mind @te_papa national museum! @wellington_newzealand
Just making friends with the locals @kiwibirdlifepk.
So @wellington_newzealand is not only coffee mad but beer crazy too. So much so that even their chocolate is dipped in it. I may not come home. - @wellingtonchocolatefactory
Day 91 of #ThisLifeinDrinks - Turns out @wellington_newzealand is coffee mad which is perfect for this guy. Big thanks to @mojocoffeenz for the fresh boost!
Saying goodbye to the South Island from the deck of the @interislander_nz ferry. #interislandermemory
Day 90 of #ThisLifeinDrinks - a couple glasses of New Zealand sauvignon blanc from our cozy @interislander_nz premium plus seats!
Auckland. Grey, wet Auckland.
Another pic from my amazing flight with @classicflights above Lake Wanaka #NewZealand
Well, it's official. Flipping and spinning in a 1940's biplane over snow capped mountains and turquoise lakes is pretty much the coolest thing ever. - @classicflights
#MilfordSound #selfie
So #MilfordSound is kinda amazing.
From glass top busses to beautiful boats, my day with @realjourneys keeps getting better.
How do you see more of #NewZealand? With windows on your coaches roof! Hats off to @realjourneys for the ride out to MilfordSound. Without a doubt the most scenic bus ride I have ever taken.
Day 89 of #ThisLifeinDrinks - A couple hot chocolates spiked with chillies for extra heat on this chilly day. #Queenstown
Well done #NewZealand - @realjourneys
My highlight for July has to be my time flying above #Wanaka #NZ with @classicflights. For a full recap of my jam packed July be sure to sign up for my newsletter. Issue 7 out tomorrow!
