Booking: An Intriguing Journey to Taipei
With Taipei as the first stop on my journey, you might wonder why I chose to fly via Sydney and Singapore instead of taking a more direct route. The answer lies in a blend of curiosity and a unique opportunity.
I had long been intrigued by EVA Air’s business-class product and had heard positive feedback about its service. I was eager to experience EVA Air’s business class on their Boeing 777-300ER and explore its home base city of Taipei. So, when the chance to fly with EVA Air came up with a well-timed Aeroplan redemption opportunity, including a stopover in Sydney and Singapore, all for just 75,000 Aeroplan points, I didn’t hesitate.
This route, while not the most direct, offered a perfect opportunity to experience EVA Air’s business class and its exceptional service, all while enjoying a memorable layover in Singapore. For a detailed look at my other flights on this trip, including my review of the YotelAir Changi and Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounge, check out my previous posts
Ground Experience: Lounge and Boarding
After a night at the YotelAir Changi Hotel, exploring the impressive Singapore Jewel, and enjoying breakfast at the Changi Airport Employee Canteen, I visited the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge in Terminal 3. This newly renovated lounge, reopened in May 2022, boasts an expansive, modern design and top-notch amenities. It provides a serene environment with high-quality food and comfortable seating options, perfect for relaxing before departing.
For my full review of the SilverKris Lounge, see here.
Boarding Experience with EVA Air
Boarding for my business class EVA Air review could have been more manageable due to security being conducted at the gate. There was no priority line for business class, which didn’t help. While it is nice to have security at the gate, it was an odd experience, given how well the rest of Changi Airport is run. Despite the delay, the process eventually got underway smoothly.
EVA Business Class Review
The chaos continued in the business class cabin. That said, staff were quick to get people settled. Towel and champagne service followed, and attendees took meal orders.
EVA Air Boeing 777-300ER Business Class Seats
The EVA Air Boeing 777 300ER business class seats are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, with all window seats angled outward. I was seated in 7K for my flight to Taipei. Unfortunately, this seat has obstructed windows, which, as noted in my Singapore Airlines A380 business class review, made me slightly anxious. However, the seat itself was comfortable and well-designed.
The EVA Air business class seats feature a well-thought-out console with a reading light, two USB ports, an AC power outlet, a headphone jack, and an in-flight entertainment touchscreen remote.
To the left of this console is a deep literature pocket, capable of holding my 13-inch MacBook Air. The storage includes a large cubby in the footwell for storing slippers and the headset case. The footwell is spacious and deep, providing a comfortable space for stretching out. However, the angled seat design means a bit of exposure to the aisle, though a small arm can be raised for added privacy.
Although my flight was during the day, I did lay the seat out flat and found the seat spacious enough to catch some sleep. The footwell is a bit cramped compared to other 777 business class seats I have flown like Emirates 777-200 or Air Canada’s 777.
Service and Amenities in EVA Air Business Class
Service onboard the EVA Air Boeing 777 300ER business class began with a warm welcome, including a choice of water, champagne, or dragon fruit juice, followed by a cold towel. Amenities included slippers, a pillow, and a cozy blanket, but no amenities kit was provided for this day time flight.
Overall the cabin crew were friendly and attentive. Nothing but smiles and drink top ups on this EVA business class review.

The lavatories on this EVA Air Boeing 777 300ER business class flight were notably and oddly the best-smelling I’ve experienced. High-quality products included scented soap, lotion, and facial mist. Toothbrushes were also available on this flight.
EVA Air Business Class Food and Drink
The EVA Air business class menu and lunch service featured an appetizer of seared tuna and a choice of main courses: Hainan chicken rice, beef tenderloin in port wine sauce, or prawn wonton soup with chicken. I chose the chicken rice, as I missed out on this dish while passing through Singapore. The chicken rice was excellent and satisfied my craving for this Singaporean dish.
Dessert on EVA Air’s business class was a delightful experience that went beyond the typical in-flight fare. It started with a fresh fruit selection, which was perfectly ripe and refreshing—just what you need after a rich meal. But the real stars of the show were the beautifully presented tarts. These were some of the best desserts I’ve had in the sky, balancing sweetness with lightness in a way that didn’t feel too heavy or overly indulgent.
The pastry itself was crisp and buttery, while the filling was smooth and flavorful, showcasing the care and attention that EVA Air puts into its dining service. Each bite was a treat, whether you’re a dessert enthusiast or just looking for something light to end your meal. EVA Air’s commitment to quality ingredients really shines through in this final course, making the overall dining experience not just enjoyable but memorable.
For drinks, I ordered a Bloody Mary, which was a significant improvement over my experience on a United Airlines business-class flight. The drink selection included Taiwanese beer, sake, and plum liquor. I also tried their signature cocktail, the Evergreen Special. Made with melon liquor, It was decent but very sweet. I would not recommend it.
In-Flight Entertainment and Wi-Fi
One of the unique features of the EVA Air Boeing 777 300ER business class is the fold-away IFE screen, which maximizes space but needs to be stowed for takeoff and landing. It’s a unique setup but not sure it would be my first design choice.
The IFE system is user-friendly and offers a decent selection of movies and TV shows, though content for Western audiences was somewhat limited. One nice touch was the ability to search for content based on your mood. This simple touch made me smile while flipping through the movies. Blockbusters were limited, and, weirdly, there was a complete section on Tom Cruise. Although I found this odd, it was effective, as I watched the latest Mission Impossible film.
The noise-cancelling headphones were just ok. As such, I opted to use my AirPod Pros with my Aventree Bluetooth adapter.
EVA Air WiFi
EVA Air offers free Wi-Fi for business class passengers for 30 minutes, though I experienced connection issues throughout the flight. This was not a problem limited to EVA and a recurring issue during my trip as a whole, so I won’t fault them.
Wrapping Up This EVA Air Business Class Review
Flying EVA Air business class was a truly rewarding experience, offering much more than just a comfortable seat. From the moment I stepped on board, I was greeted by a warm and attentive crew who consistently went above and beyond to make the journey as pleasant as possible. The food, in particular, exceeded expectations, with thoughtfully prepared meals and desserts that rivaled those of fine dining restaurants. Whether you’re a fan of Asian cuisine or prefer international dishes, the menu catered to a range of tastes, and the attention to detail in presentation was impressive.
I can confidently say that I would be more than happy to fly with EVA Air again, especially on a longer route where I could fully enjoy the excellent service and comfort for an extended period. Their business class product offers a fantastic balance of luxury, comfort, and value, making it a top choice for travelers seeking a premium experience. Whether you’re flying for business or leisure, EVA Air’s attention to detail and commitment to passenger satisfaction truly stand out, and I look forward to flying with them again in the future.
