12 Apostles Hotel – Cape Town’s Accessible Retreat

Uber chopper. That’s a thing. I first heard about this awesome add on to Uber while staying at the 12 Apostles Hotel. Fitting as I thought this luxurious retreat was a hike (or helicopter ride) from town. Turns out I was so very wrong. Here’s why:

Touch Down

For those unfamiliar with Uber, let me help you from that rock you clearly live under. Uber is a personal car hire service that you book and pay for through your phone– and it’s amazing. What’s more amazing? Uber chopper, which is exactly what it sounds like. For about $80 dollars you can take a short hop from the 12 Apostles Hotel to the Cape Town waterfront, all booked from your smart phone. Although the 12 Apostles Hotel has a helipad on its property and I could have indulged in this luxury service I quickly found that this hotel isn’t as secluded as I thought. Optically on a map, the 12 Apostles Hotel looks miles out of town but after my 8 minute and $4 Uber car ride I was convinced otherwise.

Although we could have hiked to the 12 Apostles, Uber proved best.

Gorgeous Grounds

Although not necessary, I started to regret not taking advantage of the helicopter transfer service. To take my mind of this missed opportunity I took a tour of the grounds. The first thing you notice when arriving at the 12 Apostles Hotel is the gorgeous setting. Parked under the 12 Apostles mountains, the view from this amazing hotel is breathtaking. And It doesn’t stop there.

With mountains at the rear and the ocean at the front with no neighbours for miles on either side, the 12 Apostles Hotel is a scenic retreat, fly in or not. From grotto-like pools to a picture-perfect walking trails, The 12 Apostles Hotel is paradise…and it’s just minutes from downtown Cape Town.

Luxury Getaway

We spent 2 days relaxing and getting pampered at the 12 Apostles Hotel. From our cozy room to the spa, our stay at the 12 Apostles Hotel was beyond relaxing.

And then there’s the food. We enjoyed a great spread at breakfast with ocean views each day and although the city is accessible, we stayed in and dined at Azure, the onsite restaurant. I am so glad we did as the food, service, and wine pairings are phenomenal. That and they serve a rice pudding that is blog worthy. The picture does not do it justice.

The 12 Apostles Hotel is worth the visit for this rice pudding dish alone.

Within Reach

The 12 Apostles Hotel is accessible luxury from Cape Town. It is a perfect getaway for those Capetonian‘s not wanting to go too far yet want to feel secluded. However make no mistake, this close seclusion shouldn’t scare off visitors from out-of-town. Originally I thought that the 12 Apostles Hotel was going to be a quiet luxury getaway from the city, a place I could explore Camps Bay and head to Cape Point from. Although this is true, the 12 Apostles Hotel turned out to be a luxurious stay within the city’s reach. Those worried that it is too far from the action let me tell you, it is not. This gorgeous hotel and the picturesque surroundings it sits in is only a short drive from town.

If that doesn’t tickle you there is always Uber Chopper.
