It’s official; The pandemic has given us all wanderlust and we are all doing what we can to book holidays and go and see the world while we can see it. There’s a certain level of charity that’s involved in being stuck inside for three years, so we are making the most of it well while we can, despite the fact that travel seems to have gone through the roof in terms of cost. Travel has never been something that’s easily accessible to everybody, but it used to be much more affordable than it is right now.
More people are taking holidays where they can, and booking annual leave to go and see places in the world they never thought possible. If you are one of those people, the chances are good that you’ll be looking at ways that you can make travel easy without stressing your wallet. We are about to go back into another recession, and the economy seems to be doing some weird cartwheels right now with the play on politics becoming a big issue and making the dollar and the pound more volatile. This means you have to keep looking out for things like travel deals and travel rewards and figuring out ways that you can spend the least money possible while maximizing your trip and your annual leave from work.
The good news is that you don’t need to be rolling in disposable income just to be able to take a breather somewhere that’s beyond your front door. And with that news, we’ve got some tips to help you to make your travel cheaper even if the travel companies are making it more difficult for you to do that.

Consider different dates
One of the easiest and quickest ways that you can save money on your travel plans, is to be flexible with the dates that you choose. Spring and summer are always going to be popular around the world, but you have to remember that sometimes the seasons are opposite. For example, while it may be autumn and cold for you right now it springs somewhere else in the world, so why not expand your horizons and choose somewhere that’s going to be warm no matter what? Inflexibility on your dates means travelling outside of peak seasons and that can save you a bucket tonne of money because not everybody will be able to get time off work to go in those times.
Be open-minded when it comes to destinations
Everybody wants to go to the popular destinations, the Disney worlds, and the luxury Maldives beaches, they are beckoning. The problem is that these luxury destinations often come with a luxury price tag and the goal for you here is to see the world without busting your wallet. For this to be the case for you, you need to go off the beaten path and save yourself some cash on the way. Sure, you may not be getting a seaplane to your villa that’s over the ocean, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see the ocean from a Hut or a cabin. Going to an underrated and under-travelled destination is going to help you to save a lot of money on your accommodation.
Set up travel sale alerts
Sign up for money off alerts. Most travel companies and airlines often have sales for their flights to get rid of the ones that are struggling. If you make sure that you are signing up for these alerts, you will be first in the know when they come up. This is going to make a massive difference to your travel plans because these alerts could come in right as you are considering booking something. If you have those fare alerts available, you’re never going to miss out.
Choose the right time to book
The earlier you book, the cheaper it will be. There are rumours that when you book your flight matters, and there is some evidence to say this is true. For example, did you know that Tuesday tends to be the least expensive day to book a flight? Especially when you book more than three weeks in advance. If you’re going to book a last-minute vacation, choose to book on a Sunday. You will also find some of the best travel options pop up on this day.
These are just a couple of tips that could make a difference in your travel experience. All you need to do is take us up on them and see whether or not they are correct for your area.
