Tips on Planning Your Post Covid Trip to Georgia

When the world starts opening up again, there’s no denying that people will be itching to spread their wings and go further afield. Those in the USA, however, can use this downtime to plan your next trip to Georgia. Home of the peach, this part of the US has much to offer in the way of stunning scenery and eats.

If you are planning a trip to this Southeastern state, what should you include?

Food

Georgia is a state that has some delicious specialities when it comes to good Southern food. From seafood to grits and fried chicken, there are plenty of local delicacies on offer. Head to Smyrna for a taste of Mexico at a leading Mexican Restaurant. Visit Dickey Farms in Musella for a taste of their iconic peaches.

Rock City

With its 200-million-year-old granite formations, the views of seven states from Lookout Mountain’s Lover’s Leap are worth a visit. Don’t miss Swing-a-Long Bridge or Mother Goose Village. There you can explore the fourteen acres of paths, caves, waterfalls, and plant life at Rock City Gardens.

Babyland General Hospital

Who hasn’t wanted to see exactly where Cabbage Patch Kids were born? If you are visiting Georgia, then adding the birthplace of Cabbage Patch Dolls to your schedule can offer a fun and unique twist to your trip. Located 2 hours Northeast of Atlanta, you can look around the Cabbage Patch museum and see new babies being born ready for their forever homes.

Helen

Helen is a city in northeastern Georgia with some stunning scenery and national parks for those who want to explore the natural beauty in Georgia. Unicoi State Park has a lake and camping areas. Trails lead to the Anna Ruby and Raven Cliff waterfalls in the Chattahoochee National Forest.

Savannah Guided Tour

Savannah is steeped in history and culture. You can take walking tours and discover everything this beautiful city offers thanks to the many tours in this popular tourist destination.

In fact, there is a tour for everyone, from cultural and cuisine tours to historic tours to the downright ghastly and ghostly tours unearthing what sits just below the darkness in Savannah.

World of Coca-cola

If you are a fan of sweet soda, then head to Atlanta to the birthplace of Coca-Cola. Take a journey to the World of Coca-Cola to commemorate the world’s most popular cola. Before savouring more than 100 flavors from around the world, learn about the history of Coke and its impact on pop culture. Do you want more? Visit the Pemberton House in Columbus, the former home of pharmacist John Stith Pemberton, who invented Coca-Cola.

Atlanta Botanic Gardens

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is a 30-acre botanical garden in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, near Piedmont Park.

The 30-acre botanical garden next to Piedmont Park is a pleasant surprise in the heart of Midtown Atlanta. This four-season attraction is always in bloom, from its spring bulb display to the brilliant autumn leaves, and its various interior gardens transport visitors to the tropics at any time of year.

Tybee Island

Tybee Island is near Savannah, and it attracts many visitors during the year. This is partly due to its more than three miles of wide, pristine beaches backed by dunes and lapped by gentle waves. Swimming and constructing sandcastles are just a few of the activities available on Tybee Island.

What else can you do on Tybee Island? Hop on a boat tour to see dolphins or learn to surf at North Beach. You can paddleboard through the wildlife-filled salt marsh estuaries of Little Tybee Island and kayak around the tiny Cockspur Island Lighthouse. There you can climb to the top of the historic Tybee Island Lighthouse for panoramic views.

Neptune Park

For those who want to cool off in the often stifling Georgia summer, you can head to Neptune Park in Glynn County. Lifeguards patrol this water park, and you can splash about and cool down to your heart’s content.

Take a dip in the pool, head to the splash park, or enjoy a round of mini-golf on site too. If you want to escape the heat, this is most definitely a fun way to do so.

With so much to see and do in Georgia, it can be hard to narrow down what fits in. Remember to allow some downtime to relax, especially during the warmer seasons, and allow yourself plenty of time for travelling around too.
