Air Canada Black Friday Sale 2024: Maximize eStore Points

The Air Canada Black Friday sale is one of the best times of the year for Aeroplan members to earn bonus points and take advantage of deals on products they were already planning to buy. Having earned tens of thousands of Aeroplan points myself over the years, I’ve learned a lot about how to maximize these bonus opportunities during the Black Friday promotions.

In this guide, I’ll walk you through the best ways to earn points and how to ensure that you’re getting the most value from the Air Canada Black Friday sale.

TLDR: The real deal is in the Aeroplan eStore. Click here to jump to that section.

Aeroplan Black Friday 2024 Deals

Every year, Air Canada offers special Aeroplan Black Friday promotions that are hard to ignore. But this year, there are some exciting opportunities to maximize your points even more, especially through the Aeroplan eStore. Let’s break down the biggest offers.

Aeroplan Redemption Bonus

Before diving into how to earn Aeroplan Black Friday bonus points, let’s quickly address the redemption promotions.

While it’s tempting to use your points on gift cards, electronics, or hotel stays, I’d advise against this. In my experience, these redemptions don’t offer the best value. I prefer to use my points for flights, particularly for business class redemptions, where I see the most value.

For example, during my 2024 mini round-the-world trip, I visited multiple countries and tried out incredible business class products like Thai Airways First Class flights with included First Class lounge access, United Airlines Polaris, and Lufthansa’s excellent new Allegris business class. These are the kinds of redemptions that truly make the points worth it.

That said, I understand that everyone’s needs are different, and if a hotel stay or a car rental is what you’re after, these promotions can be useful.

  • Up to 50,000 points back on hotels (Nov 18 – Dec 6)
  • Up to 20,000 points back on car rentals (Nov 18 – Dec 2)
  • Up to 50% off gas with Journie Rewards (Nov 28 – Dec 2)
  • Up to 15,000 points back on select gift cards (Nov 18 – Nov 29)
  • Up to 30% off electronics (Nov 18 – Nov 29)

Again, while these deals are worth noting, I would personally recommend holding off on redeeming points for anything other than flights.

Earning Points with Aeroplan Black Deals

In addition to big-ticket items, there are smaller opportunities to earn bonus Aeroplan points during the Black Friday period. For example:

  • Starbucks: From November 21–27, 2024, earn 40 bonus points when you make four or more eligible transactions with your linked Starbucks® Rewards account.
  • Uber & Uber Eats: From November 21–December 1, 2024, you can earn bonus points by using Uber and Uber Eats:
  • Earn 25 points on premium rides (Uber Comfort, Uber XL, Uber Premier, and Uber Black).
  • Earn 50 bonus points on your next meal delivery with Uber Eats.
  • Earn 250 points on your first grocery delivery with Uber Eats.
  • LCBO in Ontario: Bonus Aeroplan points on eligible products are available from November 10–30, 2024.

These are great ways to stack up bonus points while doing your regular shopping, and they add up over time.

Aeroplan Buy Points Promotion

From November 21–December 11, 2024, you can earn up to 80% more points with the Aeroplan Buy Points promotion. While this might seem appealing, I’d advise holding off on purchasing points unless you’re really close to a redemption.

Instead, I would recommend waiting for Aeroplan’s more generous “Buy Points” promotions that occur regularly throughout the year, especially when they offer 100% bonus points or more.

Aeroplan eStore Black Friday: The Key to Maximizing Your Points

The Aeroplan eStore is where I focus the majority of my energy during the Black Friday sales. This is where I stock up on items I genuinely need or take the opportunity to refresh my tech products on a semi-annual basis. In previous years, I’ve earned tens of thousands of bonus points from this strategy alone, and I’m confident it can work for you too.

This year, the Aeroplan eStore Black Friday sale includes a wide range of retailers, including Amazon and Dyson, to offer up to 10x the Aeroplan points on purchases. However, the full list of stores and offers won’t be revealed until closer to the sale date, so it’s a good idea to keep an eye out for updates. I’ll be tracking these and updating the post once more information becomes available.

UPDATE: Offers Better Than Advertised!

The eStore has finally been updated with retailer information, and several stores are offering 12X the points! The best offer appears to be HP at a whopping 17x! If anyone needs a new PC, monitor, or printer, now is the time!

Aeroplan Branded Credit Card Bonus

If you’re holding an Aeroplan-branded credit card, such as the AMEX Aeroplan card, you can earn an additional 50% more points on all your eStore purchases during the Black Friday promotion. This can really add up, especially if you’re shopping for big-ticket items.

Plus, the AMEX Aeroplan card comes with other perks like priority check-in and access to airport lounges, which is something I can personally attest to—especially when visiting the San Francisco Maple Leaf Lounge or Winnipeg Maple Leaf Lounge on my travels.

Note: there is a 40,000 point cap on the 50% credit card bonus.

My Aeroplan eStore Black Friday Store Strategy

To make sure I’m getting the most out of my eStore purchases, I’ve created a Aeroplan eStore Black Friday tracker here where I track my potential points earnings. You can use this tool to calculate how many points you’ll earn based on the stores you plan to shop at and the promotions available.

Be sure to check the conditions for each store, as some may exclude specific product categories like Apple products or the latest iPhones. Understanding these exclusions can help you make an informed decision on where to make your purchase.

As the full details aren’t out just yet, I have only filled in a purchase from the pre Aeroplan eStore Black Friday sale. I was holding out on pet supplies, but it was bordering on neglect. 😂

I will populate my plan as futher details come out. For what this will look like, check out the chart from my 2023 Air Canada Black Friday sale, where I racked up over 60,0000 Aeroplan points!

Aeroplan eStore Exclusions

Before diving into the Black Friday shopping spree, it’s essential to double-check the exclusions for each store. For instance, Best Buy might not allow you to earn points on Apple products, or Apple itself might not allow points on newly released items like the latest iPhone 16. It’s important to carefully read the fine print and select your store wisely to ensure that you’re earning the maximum number of points.

It’s important to note that if one store is excluding the product you want, another may not so it truly pays to shop around.

Ensuring You Get Your Points

Unfortunately, getting your bonus Aeroplan points isn’t always as seamless as you might hope. I’ve had to follow up multiple times with Aeroplan to make sure my points were properly credited. This isn’t uncommon, but it’s definitely worth the extra effort to ensure you’re getting the points you’ve earned.

To keep track, I recommend using the tracker spreadsheet I’ve provided and setting a reminder about four months after your purchase to check your Aeroplan account. If the points haven’t appeared, simply use the “Where are my points?” section on the Aeroplan website and reach out to customer service, providing proof of purchase and ensuring you clicked through the eStore link.

Maximize the Air Canada Black Friday Sale

Air Canada’s Black Friday sale offers huge opportunities to stack up Aeroplan points through the Aeroplan eStore and other promotions. With a bit of strategy, you can walk away with a significant number of bonus points while getting discounts on products you need.

Be sure to check the full list of participating stores, use your Aeroplan-branded credit card to maximize your points, and track your points to ensure they’re credited correctly.

Happy shopping, and enjoy collecting those bonus points during this year’s Aeroplan Black Friday promotions!
