It means you’ve got to ask yourself some different questions about what makes a great holiday destination and how you can get more out of your holiday. Can you spend more time at the location and get to know it? Can you explore it through food? Can you mingle with the locals? Where haven’t you been that’s trendy right now? Below is a look at some holiday destinations trending in 2025.
Ontario, Canada
Ontario has some beautiful sights. In southern Ontario, you can go island hopping in the Thousand Islands National Park. You can rent a kayak or take a guided tour on the Padded Islands Trail and explore some of the channels, sheltered bays, and open water routes once frequented by pirates and bootleggers. Or take a tour through Ontario’s wine country and follow a route that ambles through Niagara, Prince Edward County, and Lake Eerie Shore, stopping at boutique vineyards along the way.
Ontario has recently embraced gambling, the best online casino in Ontario according to Casino.ca is Jackpot City, they have over 13,000 active players and provide players with the convenience of playing from home or on the go, but even they struggle to compete with what Fallsview Casino Resort has to offer. Perched dramatically above Niagara’s Horseshoe Falls, it is Ontario’s premier entertainment destination.
Its vast 200,000 ft² gaming floor hosts over 3,300 slots, 130 table games—including high-limit and poker rooms—and caters to all levels. The complex also features a 372room luxury hotel with Falls-facing rooms, spa, fitness centre, and a 3,000car garage. Entertainment options span the intimate 1,500-seat Avalon Theatre to the larger 5,000-seat OLG Stage, hosting concerts and shows. Add 20+ dining outlets, boutique shopping, and easy access to Niagara’s attractions—Fallsview is a complete getaway.
Domenica
This overlooked Caribbean island is finally getting its day in the sun as a tourist destination because of its tropical rainforests, scuba diving opportunities, and natural hot springs. Boiling Lake is one of the most famous Domenica springs. It’s also the second largest of its kind in the world, but there’s a real hike to get there, so be prepared to hire a mandatory guide for your own safety if you want to hike there. If you don’t fancy that, you’ll be pleased to hear Domenica is developing a cable car from Rousseau Valley to the spring.
One of the loveliest things about Domenica is its commitment to marine conservation and sustainable, regenerative tourism. This island nation established a sperm whale park to protect these beautiful mammals. A limited number of people can have the pleasure of swimming alongside them, a beautiful experience if you’re lucky enough.
Singapore
Singapore has long been a favorite Asian destination of the Western world and is becoming even more beloved now that lower air fares are starting to make it more accessible. In 2025, 60 years will have passed since it became independent from Malaysia, so there will be big celebrations with fireworks in August 2025.
If you can’t attend the celebrations, other things you can do include getting off the beaten track and onto some of Singapore’s more secret trails. The Alexandra Woodland wilderness sits next to the famous Rail Corridor and features a “Lost Ark” structure made from fallen trees next to a giant pond. Since it’s an off-trail location, always advise someone where you’re going and wear suitable hiking gear.
Trømso, Norway
Ever wanted to catch the Northern Lights? Trømso, in northern Norway, is the new popular place to give it a try. Visiting the city between September and early April gives you a good chance of catching a sight that, traditionally, is very elusive unless you’re in the right place at the right time. Trømso is in the center of the lights’ oval, which means that even when activity is low, you can still see them.
When you’re not chasing the lights in Trømso, you could be strolling around the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden. The garden is blessed with a combination of plants from the Arctic and mountain regions around the world that give it a distinctive character you won’t witness in other botanical gardens.
If you fancy learning about the Arctic but doing so indoors rather than visiting it, you can go to the Polar Museum, which tells Trømso’s history as a gateway to the Arctic. The exhibitions relate explorer Willem Barentsz’s very first encounter with a polar bear, daring hot-air balloon journeys across polar regions, and a lonely Christmas in a trapper’s hut.
The year 2025 is seeing some fantastic destinations emerge as trending destinations. Other gems to consider include Cordoba, in Spain; Stuttgart, in Germany; and Kerala, in tropical, southern India.
