People love to talk about sports and individual matches all the time. Sports are more than just a passing interest for so many fans; they are intense hobbies that demand full attention and intense studying of players, transfers, and athletic skill.
Of course, even when you get to experience the absolute thrill of a match up close, you’ve got to turn your attention to something else eventually.
Take the fans of the Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, more commonly known as Spurs. These fans head over to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to catch a match and then check out the Premier League standings immediately afterwards.
But what do they do then? Just go home? How about the tourists who are in town? Turns out there’s plenty to do in Tottenham, a sprawling region of northern London.
Here are three of those things.
Check Out Some Beer
First up on this list of what to check out in Tottenham after a match is, simply, keeping the good times going. Tottenham certainly delivers in this regard. While you’re in town, you may want to treat yourself to some hip taprooms that have been set up in Tottenham’s industrial district.
A few of the best-known breweries in the region are Beavertown Brewery, Redemption Brewing, and Pressure Drop. These days, you’ll have to check hours and safety rules for going, but this is sure to be a rewarding and fun experience.
Bruce Castle Museum
Everyone loves some history once in a while. Before leaving Tottenham, you’ll definitely want to check out Bruce Castle Museum, a manor house built for Sir Rowland Hill in the 15th century. Despite being set in the bustle of Tottenham, London, the castle is located amidst a beautiful and serene park that lets you forget you are still in a huge city.
No longer an actual manor house, Bruce Castle is now a museum for the historical archives and art collections of the Borough of Haringey. Now, in ordinary times, adults could waltz right in the door for free, but due to the nature of the pandemic times, the castle is temporarily closed. The staff hopes to reopen this incredible location for visitors again soon.
Eat, Eat, Eat
Last up on what to check out in Tottenham after a match is getting something to eat. Tottenham is a popular region of London for visitors of all kinds, from young to old and for all kinds of reasons. When you’re here, you’re going to have to eat, and Tottenham has you covered. Its restaurants can’t be beaten, as there’s sure to be something here for everyone.
Take San Marco, a local-favourite Italian restaurant serving everything from brick-oven pizza to steak in a tomato, herb, and wine sauce.
Or head over to The Bluecoats pub for some incredible beer, cider, and cocktails, not to mention the place’s famous burgers, fries, quesadillas, and buffalo wings. If you’re looking for a fun night out at a hip pub in Tottenham, your answer is right here at The Bluecoats. Or, for some tasty ethnic food, try the Rayaan Restaurant, a Somali stop offering items such as lamb biryani, beef muskalo, and goat intestines.
Well, we told you: there’s no shortage of things to do in Tottenham. Next time you’re in the area for a Spurs game, stay an extra few days to see what else is on offer. You really won’t regret it.
