When Justin and Allison headed home Erin and I could have easily left as well. Vegas is great…in moderation. The upside of our new group of friends coming to town was that they are not into gambling which was great because 1.) It gave us a chance to see other things in and around Vegas and 2.) We were broke.
The first thing we did was take the short drive out to red Rock Canyon which is amazing. We got there around dusk which made the colors stick out that much more.
But then it was right back to drinking and gambling:
The next day we headed out of town to see Hoover damn and the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. I had seen both from the air last year so this was neat to get up and close to them.
The white on the shore is how much the water has dropped over the years!
The Dam jokes did not stop all day. We didn’t take the Dam tour.
The West Rim is amazing but pricey. It is on Indian land and the Indians there are making the most of it. Good on em but it cost us $30 to park then another $20 to take a short bus ride to the Skywalk which was another $30 to walk on…and you couldn’t take your camera. None the less it was an OK view I guess.
It was pretty crazy that you could walk right up to the edge of the canyon and look down. Not for someone with acrophobia.
Finally we hit the outlet malls for some severely discounted merchandise. Not too long after that it was time for Erin and I to hit the long road home.
