Noise canceling headphones are a great gift for any frequent flyer. As I found in my Bose QuietComfort 25 review, these great travel companions can make a long journey easy and comfortable. I’ve spent hundreds of hours flying on planes with uncomfortable earbuds and just sort of accepted it. It wasn’t until I made an impulse birthday buy while on a layover in Calgary did I realize that this acceptance was silly. This birthday splurge left me questioning why I didn’t do it sooner.
Here’s why:
Completely Silent
While waiting for my connecting flight to Frankfurt I eagerly unboxed and dove into this Bose QuietComfort 25 review. My first impression was that they are bulky and, although handy, the carrying case the QuietComfort 25’s come in would take up valuable space in my carry-on backpack.
Then I put them on, flicked the noise canceling switch, and watched these concerns float away.
Silence. Complete silence.
Gone was the chatter of nearby passengers and overhead announcements. I pulled the headphones off and flicked the noise canceling switch half dozen times in amazement.
In-Flight Test
Now in my seat, I patiently waited for the roaring 767 to reach cruising altitude so I could put this Bose QuietComfor 25 review into a practical test. With the flick of the power switch, I was transported off that noisy plane and into my living room watching TV. So great. That 10-hour flight flew by thanks to this Bose QuietComfort 25 review. I didn’t turn them off until our descent. They made watching movies, listening to music, and even sleeping on the plane (something I struggle with) so much better.
I arrived refreshed in Frankfurt and asking myself “how did I ever fly without these??”
More Than a Fight Companion
Although I specifically bought the Bose QuietComfort 25 for long flights, I have used them for so much more. Noisy coffee shops, turboprop short hauls, and even to cancel out a snoring roommate. On the negative side, I do find them a bit uncomfortable to sleep with and with my headphone jack-less iPhone 7 I wish I would have waited for the Bose QuietComfort 35 wireless headphones.
Still, there these are minor faults in comparison and do not take away the fact that I should’ve bought them long ago.
