Mesmerized by the eternal flames of Azerbaijan’s Mesmerized by the eternal flames of Azerbaijan’s Yanar Dag - the Fire Mountain 🔥🌋 For centuries, this natural wonder has captured the imagination of locals and visitors alike, and it’s easy to see why! 🔥✨ #YanarDag #FireMountain #Azerbaijan #Nature #Travel #EternalFlames
*
*
Yanar Dag, also known as the Fire Mountain, is a natural gas fire located on a hillside in the Absheron Peninsula of Azerbaijan. The natural gas seeps through the ground and ignites due to a combination of heat, pressure, and oxygen in the air. The flames from the Fire Mountain can reach up to three meters in height and have been burning continuously for centuries.
*
*
Yanar Dag has been a part of Azerbaijani culture and mythology for centuries. According to local legend, a shepherd once accidentally ignited the gas while lighting a fire, leading to the discovery of the natural phenomenon. The Fire Mountain has since been considered a sacred place and a symbol of Azerbaijan’s natural beauty.
*
*
Today, Yanar Dag is a popular tourist attraction in Azerbaijan, and visitors can witness the eternal flames up close. The site is especially stunning at night when the flames light up the surrounding area, creating a surreal and unforgettable experience.

*
The temple’s main attraction is the central altar, which houses a natural gas flame that has been burning for centuries. The temple also features ornate carvings, inscriptions, and sculptures, showcasing a blend of Indian, Persian, and Azerbaijani architectural styles.
