5 Tips for Visiting Universal Studios Orlando

With my recent return to Florida, I had the chance to experience Universal Studios for the 3rd time. On this visit, I came to several realizations. 1) The place is much bigger than I remembered 2) I’m still very much a child and 3) my patients for lines and crowds is not what it used to be. Thankfully I picked up a few tips to better enjoy visiting Universal Studios Orlando. Here are 5 for you to consider on your next visit.

1) Buy the Express Pass

I know, I know. You already found a great flight deal to Florida, then had to drop a mortgage payment to get your family through the park gates…now I’m telling you to spend more money? Whatever doubt you have about it now will quickly be erased as you breeze past family number 2 who decided against the Express Pass. In the end, they’ll be spending more time in lines than on rides and endure more stress from listening to their kids whine all about it. Hear me now, thank me later.

2) Plan your Day

With so much to see and do when visiting Universal Studios Orlando, it’s best to plan out a route. Pick the rides that interest you the most then list them in geographical order. To help with planning out your day download the Universal Studios app to get routes to the rides and updates on wait times. With the parks free Wi-Fi, this a no-brainer.

3) Split up

For the rides that don’t except the Express Pass, enter the individual riders line. This will speed up wait times significantly plus there is still a chance you will be seated with your group.

4) Visit Midweek

For shorter lines and thinner crowds, plan on visiting Universal Studios Orlando midweek. It tends to be much quieter than visiting on the weekends. Also, avoid holidays or spring break if possible!

5) Don’t Forget to Eat

Universal Studios is spread out over 2 parks and thousands of square feet. Double that if you count for wait times. Covering the ground is tiring, to say the least. Don’t forget to eat. Theme based restaurants like Harry Potter’s Leaky Cauldron or The Simpsons themed Krusty Burger are fun choices. Visiting Universal Studios Universal CityWalk is also a great area to cap off the day with plenty of entertainment and food and drink options.
